Our Church

Who We Are

Our Beginnings

The Eureka Church of the Nazarene has been a part of the city of Eureka since 1917. We have been located in our present location, 2039 E Street, since 1928. In 1982, the church started an elementary school, Redwood Christian School, which shares the educational wing of the building.

Agreed Statement of Belief

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:

  • We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

  • We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

  • We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

  • We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

  • We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

  • We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Meet Our Staff

Steve Berti

Lead Pastor

ChurchStaff2023Resized.jpg

Pastor Steve Berti and his wife Cheryl have five children and five grandchildren.
The two of them have been in ministry as laypeople and in full-time ministry for most of their adult lives.

Their passion is to live a Jesus shaped life empowered by the Holy Spirit. Their call is to  lead the church to disciple children, teens, and adults to live a Jesus shaped life as well. A Jesus shaped life happens  as we connect with God and others through the means of prayer, discipleship, and serving others together.

Tim & Christa Jones

Youth Director

ChurchStaff2023-2.resize.jpg

Here at the Nazarene Church on Humboldt & E Streets, we know that our youth are craving leadership and guidance. That leadership is our savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We serve youth that are 6th grade through 12th Grade. Our youth ministry focuses on equipping these young men and women with the Armor of God. Giving them tools to identify what is Christ led and what is not. We encourage our youth to live out a Christ filled life, which includes prayer, worship, and service.  Also, what is a Youth Group without lots of FUN! The Youth Group meets Tuesday Nights (September through May) from 6:30-7:30 in the Gym and on Sundays in the Teen room during service. Be on the lookout for game nights, teen camps, and service projects.

Tim Jones and his family give this ministry their whole hearts. We’d love to see your youth at the next event.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
